The Creative Team had an in-depth conversation about the joys of Apple products after the announcement of the new spaceship campus. The passion runs deep here, but we found some folks out there who took it to another level. The problem with getting a company logo permanently etched on your person is…well, there are a lot of problems with that. But mainly, brands and campaigns evolve while tattoos remain the same. Check out the Passion of the Apple as it has been carved into flesh over the years:
Remember this smiley guy? Designer Susan Kare told Creative Review,“There was a pervasive attitude that the Mac was intended to be a computer ‘for the rest of us’. A way to symbolise that sentiment was to try to make the computer look friendly.” This guy’s calf is forever booting up his Mac SE while rocking out to Bobbi Brown’s “My Perogitive.”
Ah, the color bar logo. According to the original designer Rob Janoff, “…the real solid reason for the stripes was that the Apple II was the first home or personal computer that could reproduce images on the monitor in color. So it represents color bars on the screen.” Meanings of symbols shift with time, so today it appears this individual is an avid supporter of both produce and equal rights for homosexuals.
“Think Different” is a great and timeless message, but combined with the late nineties version of the logo, this girl’s lower back is forever living in 1997 while the rest of her ages. Isn’t it ironic, don’t ya think? The slogan was created for Apple by the Los Angeles office of advertising agency TBWAChiatDay and was discontinued with the start of the Apple Switch ad campaign in 2002.
