Location3 Executive Bio | Senior V.P. | Erik Whaley
Erik Whaley is the Chief Operating Officer of Location3 Media. Whaley joined Location3 in early 2005 and has held a series of increasingly responsible positions in account management, operations, client services and digital strategy over the span of 13+ years.
Whaley is responsible for the agency’s day-to-day operating activities, including client performance, expense cost/margin control and financial goal management for all service lines. Whaley directly oversees the agency’s profit and operation centers, while providing guidance on the pricing and positioning of the agency’s suite of services.
Prior to his current role, Whaley progressed through the company in various roles with a hands on approach that provided him exposure and perspective to all areas of the business. Whaley started in the account management group where he won two BMA Gold Key awards for his strategic approach to local digital marketing. In 2007 Whaley was tasked with launching and growing a local marketing division for Location3. Within three years, this division saw net revenues increase by 700% YOY while implementing a supporting operational and client support infrastructure. This rapid growth resulted in Whaley taking a larger leadership position as the V.P. of Client Services. The V.P. of Client Services role provided an opportunity for Whaley to oversee a department of 40 FTE’s and 65 clients with annual media budgets of $28mm. Under his leadership, Location3 saw the highest client satisfaction, performance and retention rates in agency history.
Whaley remains active in the industry with featured articles in Entrepreneur and Visibility magazines, monthly contributions to The Search Engine Journal and various conference speaking engagements. He holds degrees in marketing and music from the University of Colorado and an executive certificate in business administration from the University of Notre Dame.
